Surrey Hills 1: Sunken lanes and horse touring

More cycle route research, this time in the lovely Surrey Hills. They’re hilly.

Friday Street is like every other picturesque Surrey Hills hamlet and village: too small to have a post office, library or shop, but big enough to have a gastropub.
Sunken lanes are a remarkable feature round here, like something out of a fairytale. One where wicked witches drive parcel delivery fans too fast and overtake cyclists dangerously

The London skyline from Leith Hill. It’s changed a bit since I was last here, in 1990. So have I.
Dan, a horse fan who runs a horse taxi, outside the Plough in Coldharbour. We had a long, very pleasant chat about cycle touring vs horse touring, and he recommended me the Plough’s in-house brew.
