Swindon 2: White Horses

Posted on 5 December 20202 April 2021 by Rob Ainsley

Day 2 of cycle route research round Swindon took me past four White Horses, none of them pubs, all of them hill figures. It’s a Thing round here.

Uffington, the famous 3000yo modernist hoss. I had it to myself this chilly morning.
Marlborough, the faintest and most rubbish hoss. That’s ‘cos schoolboys did it, in the public school’s grounds.
Hackpen Hill, where there were two real hosses in the field. They kept trying to eat my panniers.
Broad Town, viewed from the (actually, narrow village’s) primary school whose logo is the hoss.
