Exeter: Maths rivers

Posted on 29 July 20192 April 2021 by Rob Ainsley

Finished my route research in Dartmoor, so I had a spare morning to explore Exeter, and one of my favourite ‘maths rivers’, the Exe.

Hmm: Dee, Exe, Wye; there could be a promising ‘Differential Trail’ consisting of Dee-Exe over Dee-Wye.

Lively Exeter Quay, busy with bewildered leisure cyclists trying to regain their bearings after the badly-signed works blocking the upriver route. Bewildered leisure cyclists like me, in fact.
Rems of the astounding 13th-century bridge over the river and side marshes, except the river’s now narrowed, so the bridge is on dry land.
The Exe Trail, downriver from the centre. I followed a sign for Topsham Brewery’s Taproom but couldn’t find it. Considering I had a train home to catch, that was probably just as well.
