Coast to Coasts

I’ve enjoyed exploring the island of Britain by cycling coast-to-coast in various ways. Here’s a selection.

Standard Coasts to Coasts

I’ve done all the conventional coast-to-coast trips (see the map) and some less conventional ones.

The most popular of the standard routes is the C2C (Coast to Coast, aka Sea to Sea), with the more recent Way of the Roses a close second.

I’ve done the Way of the Roses twice, most recently (in 2024) on a 1970s bike with only 1970s kit.

Non-standard Coast to Coasts: Rhyming Rides

I love the serendipity of the arbitrary. This series of rides linked places on opposite coasts of Britain that just happen to rhyme.

Barmouth to Yarmouth has been done by a few people, but the others are even more niche.

I haven’t included Flamborough to Bamburgh (F2B) here, because although it rhymes, they’re on the same coast.

Not just any rhymes. They must be on opposite coasts.
Mull to Hull (M2H)
Dunbar to Stranraer (D2S)
Barrow to Jarrow (B2J)
Barmouth to Yarmouth (B2Y)
Lynmouth to Teignmouth (L2T)
Poole to Goole (P2G)
