Ireland End to End

Mizen Head to Malin Head 665 miles

In June 2011 I cycled Ireland’s End to End, partly with my friends Si, Sue and Mark.

The customary extremities are Mizen Head, down in southwest County Cork, and Malin Head, up in the north of County Donegal.

The furthest point north is not the North

The total End to End distance was 665 miles, and took two leisurely weeks of 40–70 miles a day.

I stayed in hostels and inexpensive hotels, and did the trip on my Raleigh Royal tourer.

Every end is also a beginning

Day 0: York to Dublin
Day 1: (Dublin to) Mizen Head to Glengarriff
Day 2: Glengarriff to Kenmare
Day 3: Kenmare to Killarney
Day 4: Gap of Dunloe
Day 5: Killarney to Dingle
Day 6: Dingle to Kilrush
Day 7: Kilrush to Doolin
Day 8: Doolin
Day 9: Doolin to Letterfrack
Day 10: Letterfrack to Ballina
Day 11: Ballina to Ballyshannon
Day 12: Ballyshannon to Buncrana
Day 13: Buncrana to Malin Head (to Derry)
